COVID Update

HSSOD, you are doing an incredible job with honoring all of our “Love Guidelines” to keep everyone safe! Huge thanks to our weekly volunteers who show up ready to clean all surfaces throughout the evening! Here are a few reminders to keep in mind as we continue to work together...

- Please keep dancers home if they show any signs of illness, or anyone in your family shows signs of illness. You can do a make up class at your convienence.
- If we are contacted about a student testing positive for Covid, you will be contacted.
- All studios are disinfected daily and we have invested in air filters that will keep the air flow as healthy as possible.

A Note from the Director

March was a fun month full of super fun experiences! We witnessed the return of Dance Theatre with an incredible and innovative performance of “Lost in the Museum.” If you were lucky enough to be an audience member, you know that it was a very special day at HSSOD! Thanks again to Ms. Denise, Ms. Mollie, the dancers, and a fabulous crew of volunteers.

We LOVED Picture Weekend! It made me really happy to see dancers in full recital costumes. We can expect pictures to be delivered by the end of April.

Springs Tap Ensemble held auditions, and Springs Ballet Company/Springs Dance Company will be soon! Read on for more info!

Our trip to Hawaii was a year in the making! I’m so glad that we never gave up on this special dance trip.

We feel life being pulled in a wonderful direction. As we head to our 2021-2022 season registration next week, I can’t help but believe that the best is yet to come!

Hawaii Dance Adventure

We had a wonderful opportunity to perform at Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center! Our dancers “Tribute to America” was really fantastic! Additionally, we took hula lessons, hiked Diamond Head, enjoyed a catamaran ride in the Pacific Ocean, and attended an amazing luau. When we celebrated our 20th anniversary by doing this with our dancers, I thought we would never go back. I guess I should never say never! Perhaps your dancer will join me someday!

Pointe Placement

Register now in the office if your dancer is interested in Beginning Pointe. Dancers are required to take a placement class to determine if they are ready.

April 25th - 1:30 to 3:30

  • Groups of 12 dancers will sign up for a 30 minute time slot with Ms. Denise
  • Dancers should be 12 by the time that the new season begins
  • Dancers should have a minimum of 2 years experience in Ballet
Fall Registration

It’s hard to believe it’s that time again! We’ve created a really easy way to make our Fall registration go so well! March 22 - March 27 2021,  you will take part in our lottery drawing to register for a registration time slot the week of April 5 - 9. You may stop by the front desk anytime to draw your time slot and pick up a copy of our Fall schedule for registration week. The schedule during registration week will run as follows;

  • Mon. April 5 -  Pre-school aged dancers as well as 5/6 year olds
  • Tues. April 6 -  7/9 year olds
  • Wed. April 7 -  7/9 year olds
  • Thurs. Apr. 8 & Fri. Apr. 9 -  10/12 year olds
  • Sat. April 10 -  13 and up

* Our time slots will run between 4:00pm and 8:30pm.

* You may register your child and one other person. *Important*- If you wish to register a friend, you must let us know before Saturday April 3. No one will be allowed to walk up and register for someone without pre-registration. We will open up registration to the community on Monday, April 13th.

* We would like you to have at least three choices ready when you arrive for registration in case your first choice has been filled.

* If you cannot attend on your scheduled registration day, you may come later in the week (after your age group has registered) and sign up at your convenience.

* You must choose a registration time for each child if you have multiple students. If you only want to come to the studio on one day to register, you should do it on the day that the oldest sibling can register.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are happy to help! If you have friends who want to register, they may come by beginning April 13th when we open up registration to the entire community.

“True Colors” - Spring Recital Information

The show must and will go on! We have been patiently waiting to see how things progressed for our spring recitals. Based on performance space numbers, we will be sharing our work this season at Hope Community Church for both the Young Dancer and Older Dancer Recitals. Here’s everything you need to know…

  • All dancers ages 3-9 years old will perform on Saturday, May 15th at one of four shows. Please see attached performance schedule.
  • Dancers in the 10 and up group will perform in one of 6 shows at Hope on either Friday, June 4th or Saturday, June 5th. Again, please check your dancer’s performance schedule.
  • Recital tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 17th from 9-noon at the studio for $10.00 each. Based on numbers, we will hold:
    • 4 tickets for Young Dancers (per class/per show)
    • 2 tickets for Older Dancers (per class/per show)
    • Example: if your child is in 2 classes, they will be allowed 2 tickets per class for whichever show.
  • If we are able to expand our numbers for additional tickets, we will let everyone know. We are hopeful that the Governor will increase audience size by the end of April. Until then, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
  • If you only need one or two tickets, the additional tickets will be sold to anyone interested in purchasing more tickets.
  • Beginning Saturday, April 24th at 9am at the studio, we will sell additional tickets to anyone interested.
  • We will have a professional videographer at all shows. You will be able to purchase this if you are interested and can share it with additional fans!
  • DRESS REHEARSALS – We will be holding dress rehearsals at the studio.
    • Young Dancers - Dress Rehearsal will be the week of May 8th-14th for the May 15th shows. Dancers WILL have class May 17th – 29th after recitals.
    • Older Dancers - Dress Rehearsal will be May 24th- 29th. This will be our awards week.
  • There are no classes on Memorial Day (May 31st)- June 3rd. Dancers will meet us for performances at Hope on June 4th or 5th.
  • We certainly understand that this is not our original plan for sharing spring recitals, but we also know that we have worked tirelessly to have an indoor performance opportunity for our dancers. We are truly grateful that Hope Church is being so accommodating for us, and we know it will be a terrific weekend for our kids!
  • After a year like no other, we are excited to share “True Colors” with all of you! We are looking forward to two wonderful weekends of dance performances!

Updated Class Info!!

Due to the restrictions being lifted, we are thrilled to announce that we will be open for in person classes at the studio beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8th!! The Monday, Sept. 7th day (Labor Day) will be added to the schedule the week of Mon., Nov. 23rd as a make up day. Our virtual class schedule will end this Saturday, Sept. 5th. Anyone who is interested in remaining virtual should contact us immediately. Our new virtual season (for parents who choose this option) will begin as scheduled on Mon., Sept. 14th. We can’t wait to see our dancers next week! PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ ALL NEW GUIDELINES BELOW…

Let’s dance!!!

Welcome to the Holly Springs School Of Dance! We are so excited that you have chosen to have your dancer share in our 23rd season! We are committed to making every effort to have this be one of the BEST parts of your child’s life! We cannot thank you enough for the endless support, encouragement, and adaptability you’ve all shown. HSSOD has the BEST dance family!

*Of course, the safety of our dance community is our number one priority. With that in mind, please know that we will be following these guidelines…

HSSOD Love Guidelines – We are spreading love, not germs!

Be nice. Be kind. Be happy.

All dancers ages 5 and up will need to join our staff in wearing a mask for all classes. Additionally, please know that everyone will be required to wash or sanitize before entering the studio. Teachers will have their temperatures checked upon arrival to the studio.

Only wear/bring what you need for class. No dance bags, just water bottles. The water fountain will only be available for filling water bottles.

All dancers can be dropped off or walked to class by their parents, but parents must wait in their car. All lobbies will be closed, but you can still visit the office located in studio 144 if you have questions.

Dancers should plan on entering through the front door of the studio and exiting through the back door. The only exception is studio 132 where teachers will escort dancers out before the next class enters. Parents should meet dancers at the back of the studio at the end of class, or have older dancers meet them at a designated location. We will have staff located in the front and back of the building who will regularly be sanitizing door handles and helping anyone who needs assistance.

Since dancers cannot hang out in the lobby areas or outside of the studios in between classes, we are hoping that parents will take advantage of the beautiful field beside the studio during breaks.

Please respect our dance community by staying home if anyone in your household is showing symptoms of illness.

Please be patient with everyone you meet. We’ve all been through a lot, and showing extra loving kindness right now is so important.

HAVE FUN! With all precautions in place, we are confident that our dancers can safely continue to grow by doing what they love.

Know that we are here to support you! Our goal is to create a healthy and happy environment for our dance community. Always do what is best for your family!

Help a Dancer!

Do you have a way that you could support someone in our dance family? We can share acts of kindness in a variety of ways. During what has been a very difficult time for many families, here are some ways you might be able to help….

  • Offer to donate gently used shoes or leotards to share with others.
  • Pay it forward; offer to pay for a costume or one month’s tuition for a struggling family.
  • Organize a carpool to lesson the burden of transportation.
  • Volunteer your services (props construction, sewing, graphic design work, working at events) to help dancers organizing events.
  • Pledge to say something positive to every dancer you come in contact with for a whole week. Who knows, it just might become a habit and kindness is contagious!
  • Be creative! We’re open to any suggestions!

We work hard to reach out to our community, but we also want to take care of each other! Thanks for your help!
